IPPS-A Login & Guide

IPPS-A (Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army) is the Army's HR system for personnel action requests, leave, promotion points, physical profiles, and pay-impacting data. Login requires a CAC. Below are direct links to the main system and the most-used sub-modules.

Common Issue: Role/Permission Errors

A working CAC login doesn't automatically mean you have the role needed for a specific transaction. IPPS-A assigns roles based on your position in the unit's hierarchy, and that sync commonly breaks after a PCS, a task-organization change, a detachment, or a command transition. If a transaction won't go through, the fix is almost always with your unit S1/HR professional confirming your position and role are correctly mapped — not a system outage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IPPS-A?

IPPS-A (Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army) is the Army's HR and pay system. It handles personnel action requests (PARs), leave/absence requests, promotion point worksheets, physical profiles, orders-related workflows, and pay-impacting data — largely replacing what used to run through AKO and legacy personnel systems.

Where do I log into IPPS-A?

At hr.ippsa.army.mil, using your CAC. There's also an IPPS-A Launch Platform mobile app, though most soldiers find the web version more reliable for actual transactions.

My CAC works but I can't complete a transaction — why?

A working CAC login doesn't automatically mean you have the correct role for a given transaction. IPPS-A assigns roles based on your position in the unit hierarchy, and that role/permission sync commonly breaks after a PCS, a task-org change, a detachment, or a change of command. Contact your S1/HR professional to have your role verified and corrected.

Where do I check my promotion points in IPPS-A?

The Promotion Point Worksheet is available directly in IPPS-A under the personnel self-service menu.

Is IPPS-A the same as AKO?

No. AKO (Army Knowledge Online) was decommissioned. IPPS-A is one of several separate systems that absorbed some of AKO's old personnel functions — it did not exist as part of AKO.
